Complete CCTV Upgrade & Maintenance Contract - Emergency Control Room
Select were instructed to completely replace the existing analogue camera system with an up to date IP System. The challenge was to keep the existing system running whilst building the new. Select successfully achieved this and built the new fibre data network and CCTV system for the Emergency Control Room with minimum transmission lost. Chris Harrison the control room manager said the new digital system can help enormously with public safety and in the control of abuse in public places helping to make our street safer for women and vulnerable people.
Maintenance Highlights
Not long ago a lorry collided with a CCTV camera column. Knocking it down to a 45 degree angle and dangerously looming over the towns Christmas shoppers. Within an hour select attended, removed and replaced the camera and column much to the relief of the public and highways officers who were standing close to it keeping the people safe. Given that this was the weekend we thought the response was fantastic.
On another occasion we saw workers replacing cables outside our office cut through the fibre network which destroyed all of our transmissions for more than 20 cameras. Select responded immediately and within 4 hours began replacing the fibre. We were back on line that day - what a remarkable response.

"We instructed Select to install a completely new CCTV system throughout the center. This included all the new cabling infrastructure, cameras and IT equipment. After some consideration and talking to a CCTV consultant we looked at 3 companies in total and Select were the most competitively priced. They had good credentials from working with local authorities so that gave us a good indication they would be most suitable for the project, as well as there close proximity to the centre for ongoing maintenance and repairs. We also requested references and were happy with the responses and customer feedback we received.
Work commenced start of May 2021. It started with the engineers installing a brand new Fibre Optic network and network switches. After the switches were connected the new CCTV system was installed. This environment could have been quite difficult for the team as the shopping centre is made up of a lot of historical buildings and it was important that the cameras weren't to intrusive. Select found some good solutions to manage this and sourced good hardware such as iron brackets to remain in keeping with the period and character of the buildings.
I would highly recommend Select to customers. They were very good with working closely with us and the manufacturers throughout the project. The staff worked very hard and diligently. The great thing about this technology is that we can add to this over time and it can help to us to solve problems using smart technology. We found the service and products were of a very good standard so we will be continuing to work with Select ongoing on additional upcoming projects".
